Bambu Lab R1 CO2 Laser Cutter Launches September 22

Bambu Lab will launch the R1, its first CO₂ laser engraver and cutter, on September 22. The company confirmed the date and laser type in a new teaser published on September 14, a month after it first announced the product.

The seven-second animation lights up a CO₂ laser tube before displaying the date 2026.09.22. Bambu Lab has also updated the title of the R1 page to identify it as a CO₂ laser engraver and cutter, while the page itself now carries the line “Big job. Light work.”

The CO₂ designation separates the R1 from the laser equipment Bambu Lab currently offers for the H2D. Those 10 W and 40 W modules use blue diode lasers, whereas the R1 is being presented as a laser product in its own right. The complete machine has not yet appeared in Bambu Lab's teasers.

Bambu Lab first introduced the R1 on August 13 with an image of its logo being cut from a sheet of wood and said the product would arrive in September. At the time, the company described the R1 as its first laser engraver and cutter but gave no exact launch date or indication of the laser technology.

The latest teaser leaves the main specifications for the launch. Bambu Lab has yet to publish the R1's power, work area, cutting capacity, enclosure and extraction system, price or sales availability.
