Bambu Lab confirmed the R1's September 22 launch with a CO₂ laser teaser. The machine has since been unveiled with a 55 W source and automatic optical alignment.
Update, October 8, 2026: Bambu Lab unveiled the R1 on September 22 and opened pre-orders that day, with shipping scheduled to start in October. Bambu Lab announced that the R1, its first dedicated CO₂ laser engraver and cutter, would launch on September 22. The company confirmed the date and laser type in a new teaser published on September 14, a month after it first announced the product.
The seven-second animation lights up a CO₂ laser tube before displaying the date 2026.09.22. Bambu Lab also updated the title of the R1 page to identify it as a CO₂ laser engraver and cutter, while the page itself then carried the line “Big job. Light work.”
The CO₂ designation separated the R1 from the laser equipment Bambu Lab offered for the H2D. Those 10 W and 40 W modules use blue diode lasers, whereas the R1 was being presented as a laser product in its own right. The complete machine had not appeared in Bambu Lab's teasers at that point.
Bambu Lab first introduced the R1 on August 13 with an image of its logo being cut from a sheet of wood and said the product would arrive in September. At the time, the company described the R1 as its first laser engraver and cutter but gave no exact launch date or indication of the laser technology.
The September 14 teaser left the main specifications for the launch. Bambu Lab had not yet published the R1's power, work area, cutting capacity, enclosure and extraction system, price or sales availability.
