Creality SPARKX i8 Launches on Indiegogo From $289

Creality has launched the SPARKX i8 on Indiegogo with a $289 opening reward and a stated retail price of $399. The four-channel machine uses Creality's QuarTeks toolhead to shorten the filament path shared during color changes.

By September 22, the $289 reward had disappeared from the selectable options, leaving $309 as the lowest available pledge for the printer. This is a crowdfunding campaign rather than a normal store order, and Creality says the hardware is still in final debugging.

QuarTeks Shortens the Shared Filament Path

The i8 is an open-frame bedslinger with a 260 x 260 x 255 mm build volume. Its QuarTeks toolhead keeps four filaments in separate channels until they meet less than 1 mm from the nozzle. That leaves less filament to retract before the next color enters the nozzle.

Creality claims a switch takes less than a second. Conventional single-nozzle systems retract one filament and feed the next through the same route, leaving more of the previous color to flush before the new one reaches the print.

The campaign also says the i8 can skip a separate prime tower when the model allows it, placing color transitions inside infill or inner walls. Creality calls this zero external purge waste, although the campaign notes a small flush at startup and limits the prime-tower-free mode to compatible models.

Color range is the other half of Creality's pitch. The company presents the i8 as a CMYK printer that layers cyan, magenta, yellow and black filament to create intermediate shades rather than blending the materials in the nozzle. Creality says the process can widen the available palette, but cannot provide precise color matching or reproduce every specified color.

Creality Plans SPARKX i8 Production for October

The campaign passed $1 million in funding within 40 minutes, Creality said in a launch-day update. The same update puts the i8 in its final debugging phase, with mass production and factory shipments planned to begin in October.

Creality expects deliveries in November, depending on destination and the year-end logistics rush. With production due to start the month before, that is a campaign estimate rather than a fixed arrival date.

The Indiegogo launch supplies the price and availability missing from our first SPARKX i8 report. The question now is whether QuarTeks can deliver the faster color changes and lower material waste Creality is promising.
