Elegoo has introduced the M1 Ultra, a handheld 3D scanner due to launch on October 29 that adds a way to capture existing objects alongside the company's printers.
The M1 Ultra puts touch controls on the scanner itself. Elegoo's promotional image shows a model preview and capture controls on the built-in screen. Keeping those controls in hand is a sensible idea for a tool that's meant to move around an object, rather than stay in one place on a desk.
The company is pitching a broad range of uses. Its size graphic places small mechanical parts alongside a person and a vehicle. Capturing the outline of a large object and preserving a tiny fitting surface are different jobs, though, so the detail a scan retains will matter as much as the size of the object it covers.

For a print workshop, scanning could help when a customer brings in a physical part without a design file. A curved housing could provide a reference for a matching bracket, saving the designer from reconstructing its outer shape from photographs and measurements alone.
The scan is only the start of that job. A captured surface may need gaps repaired or unwanted detail removed, and it doesn't automatically become a CAD design with editable dimensions. The holes and mating surfaces that decide whether a replacement fits still need checking. This part of the software workflow deserves as much attention as the handheld hardware.
Elegoo's US early-bird offers promise $100 off the scanner or $400 off a scanner-and-printer bundle. Both offers end November 12 at 2 a.m. EST. Elegoo hasn't advertised a final selling price as of October 22, 2026, so the discounts don't yet reveal what the complete setup will cost.
The announcement follows Bambu Lab's S1 scanner reveal, bringing another printer maker into the capture side of the workflow. For printer owners, the appeal is starting with the object on the bench, rather than searching for a model that's almost the right shape.
When does the Elegoo M1 Ultra launch?
Elegoo lists October 29, 2026, at 3 a.m. EDT, which is 8 a.m. CET. That is the announced launch time; a shipping schedule has not been advertised on the teaser.
How much does the Elegoo M1 Ultra cost?
As of October 22, 2026, the visible teaser advertises promotional savings rather than a final selling price. The US offers are $100 off the scanner and $400 off a scanner-and-printer bundle; those amounts are discounts, not the purchase prices.
Does the M1 Ultra work without a computer?
Elegoo shows a touchscreen on the scanner, but has not explained which processing steps run on the unit or what computer software is required. A built-in screen alone does not establish a fully standalone workflow.
